Come aboard the American Line’s SS Virginia sometime before 1938 (when the Virginia was sold to the Maritime Commission and renamed the SS Brazil). As photographed by Harry Benewick, hometown unknown, you’ll enjoy lots and LOTS of swimming in the ship’s pool, dancing on deck, a trip through the Panama Canal with a surprising and delightful ship cameo appearance, and even some scenic shots of Panama City and Havana in the 1930′s. Briefly back onboard ship for more dancing, our intrepid travelers arrive in New York where they managed to FILM THE ROCKETTES DANCING ON STAGE AT RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL! The footage is so charming, I’ve left it in, set to period music by the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra. Please note the charming homemade titles interspersed throughout the film, and as always… ENJOY!
Take a trip from Virginia Beach to the Outer Banks of North Carolina without leaving your seat. If you can stand watching something this long, I will treat you to a bunch of my comments along the way. Nothing like an OBX trip on a summer weekend.
There’s a VERY cool statue called King Neptune. I’m on the boardwalk of Virginia Beach, Virginia. From my trip on June 28, 2009. The day I was there, it was very overcast and grey. Also featuring funky reggae music artists: Uwe Banton – “Love Reggae” Bob Marley – “Roots Rock Reggae” Natiruts Reggae Power 4 – “Naticongo” Virginia Beach has a beautiful big sandy beach but no waves. The 34-foot high cast bronze King Neptune statue stands between Neptune Park and the sea. With trident in hand, he is surrounded by the creatures of his realm. The statue was dedicated to the City of Virginia Beach on September 30, 2005 during the Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend. King Neptune, is an awesome sculpture all the way around. At Neptune’s Park is the Hilton Hotel and the Virginia Beach Amphitheater which is a 20000-capacity outdoor concert venue hosting 30-40 events each season. Up and down Atlantic Avenue are more restaurants and junk food joints than you could dream of. I seriously have never seen so many restaurants advertising breakfast and above all pancakes in my life. If you want to eat pizza, ice cream, pancakes, hamburgers, subs, and any other artery clogging food then Virginia Beach’s Atlantic Avenue is the place to be. Oh yeah, and seafood buffets are advertised heavily but they aren’t cheap and definitely not as good as the Bellagio Buffet in Las Vegas which really is the best buffet and best seafood buffet ever. The boardwalk is marked at every 1/2 mile and is a total …
