This video begins at Edsall Rd. / VA 648 (Exit 2) in Fairfax County, VA and concludes at New York Ave. / US 50 in Washington DC. Along the way you’ll see the popular Shirley Highway reversible HOV lanes, the Pentagon, and the tunnels under the US Capitol. I apologize for the video quality in this video. Like the last one, there was a lot of salt still on the road due to a prior snow storm. Music: Call My Name (Max Graham & Protoculture Extended Mix) by Sultan & Ned Shepard (feat. Nadia Ali)
This video was taken during our fall vacation in Virginia on October 4, 2007. We decided to visit the capital of Virgina, a city with a metro area population of about 1.2 million people. Our drive from Massanutten was about 2 hours, and our first stop in the city was the Convention and Visitors Centre. We got decked out with all sorts of maps and brochures and I quickly video-interviewed one of the representatives of the tourism department to get an idea of the city. I figured the best place to start the exploration would be right downtown near City Hall. Most of Richmond’s downtown is made up of modern skyscrapers that are interspersed with a few historical buildings. The main sight in the area is of course the Capitol Building which we visited through its newly constructed underground entrance and exhibit area. I also checked out the Main Street Station, a historical railway station that has recently undergone a stunning renovation. We walked through Shockoe Slip, a neighbourhood of former tobacco warehouses from the Victorian era that have now been turned into lofts, retail stores and restaurants. We also walked down to the canal area, close to the James River, an area that has recently been undergoing a rejuvenation. We also briefly drove across the James River to catch a great view of the downtown Richmond skyline and then headed west into a picturesque residential neighbourhood called “The Fan”, so-called because the streets are laid out in a fan-shaped pattern. Our …

There’s a VERY cool statue called King Neptune. I’m on the boardwalk of Virginia Beach, Virginia. From my trip on June 28, 2009. The day I was there, it was very overcast and grey. Also featuring funky reggae music artists: Uwe Banton – “Love Reggae” Bob Marley – “Roots Rock Reggae” Natiruts Reggae Power 4 – “Naticongo” Virginia Beach has a beautiful big sandy beach but no waves. The 34-foot high cast bronze King Neptune statue stands between Neptune Park and the sea. With trident in hand, he is surrounded by the creatures of his realm. The statue was dedicated to the City of Virginia Beach on September 30, 2005 during the Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend. King Neptune, is an awesome sculpture all the way around. At Neptune’s Park is the Hilton Hotel and the Virginia Beach Amphitheater which is a 20000-capacity outdoor concert venue hosting 30-40 events each season. Up and down Atlantic Avenue are more restaurants and junk food joints than you could dream of. I seriously have never seen so many restaurants advertising breakfast and above all pancakes in my life. If you want to eat pizza, ice cream, pancakes, hamburgers, subs, and any other artery clogging food then Virginia Beach’s Atlantic Avenue is the place to be. Oh yeah, and seafood buffets are advertised heavily but they aren’t cheap and definitely not as good as the Bellagio Buffet in Las Vegas which really is the best buffet and best seafood buffet ever. The boardwalk is marked at every 1/2 mile and is a total …
